just bought my tr (original trans or not)?

I recently just got under my TR and saw something thats got me stumped.Imprinted on the tranny pan reads turbo hydromatic GMC. Is this the original tranny?

Don't know what year your car is, but here's some pics that might help.

Also look for a yellow tag on the right rear side of the tailshaft. It should be a riveted-on tag, yellow in color that says BR.

The Tags that you refer to can be yellow, pink or blue in color.

There is a set of 6 digit numbers stamped on the case. They should correspond to your VIN if original.

The VIN Nick is referring to is located on the drivers side of the car on a boss just above the pan seam where it meets the tranny case. Numbers are about a 10 font so you have to look close with a flashlight. Middle back of the tranny.
