The fact that you will let in a 1974 Nothing Special but my GN, that makes every top 10 list for cool cars, that has an engine that makes every top 10 best engine list, and that is eligible for HISTORIC tags (in MD anyway) is excluded? That makes no sense! I thought the idea was to attract cool cars to these events.

As I'm walking around I see the people running the show. There were about 20 or 30 people running this cruise it's so big. Anyways they all had fluorescent green shirts on that read in huge letters on the front... "what part of 74 and older don't you understand". I could not believe they would go to that level to have shirts made up. I could see if it was a big ricer area but it's not. IMO all these shows need to do is say.. rear wheel drive American muscle cars only and or classic imports. That keeps the rice out and gives you a nice wide range of cars. It was such an awesome cruise to be with that many cars but it blew me away they had those shirts on!

This is one of my favorite local shows that I like to pick on because they wont let 79 and newer in. http://www.turkeyrun.com/
click on registration and see if your car meets the requirements. How's come there is a special area for Prowlers and Vipers? I give these guys a crate motor every year in exchange for advertising and some free passes and they tell me you can skirt the rules a little if you notify them in advance otherwise you'll have to wait and show your car on Sunday. Damn, they are nailing you $15 at the gate with out the car! If you need a quasi-reservered parking space than the $20 doesn't sound like a bad deal but Sunday is the lame day. Friday and Saturday are the best days. Half the vendors and most of the cars are packed up and on their way back home by Sunday. BTW I bet a lot of ricers could get in under the 4 out 6 custom rule if they wanted to. I'd like to think a lot of them know better and thats probally why you dont see them at this event.

Going to stir up things a bit tonite. Going to a cruise that has a 79 cutoff date but will park in the Wendy's lot next to the main cruise. Was already kicked out of that one once this year. Yes, I am a glutton for punishment but trying to spread the word about Turbo Regals to the uniformed.

I stopped by an informal cruise at a burger joint on evening. Everyone was looking at a clean 70 Challenger R/T. As I got out of my car, this guy comes up and tells me my car is too new. Most of the guys there like older cars like the R/T. As I popped my hood, everyone abandoned the R/T and came right over. I just told him that people who like cars like that usually like my car. He shut up and I went over and checked out the R/T because no one was there anymore.

Mark - never give up! People will open their eyes and see...someday. ;)

Eric, That turkey run sounds like it is being run by a bunch of...well...turkeys! How can they say that vehicles under construction and in promer are show quality? I guess that the little glow in the dark flat green truck I saw in Augusta the other week would qualify as as an entry. Not only custom paint, but he has the custom chopped and channeled suspension package that can go from a regular truck to lowered at the flip of a switch! Oh wait, it was probably a pre79 model anyway so.... (forgive me I rambled)

I would think that every TR owner in the southeastern US should gather together and show up at the door with our now 20yr old classics and ask what makes them so special?

Those kind of rules just tick me off. Rant over.

Funny part was when I came in there was 2 women who were collecting donations for the cruise. I said these cars are ok to bring in right? She looks at my car and ask what year is it. I said 87 she said it's too new. I should have told her it was a 74! :D

meh, cruises are kinda like car shows -- it's all about looks and cosmetic stuff over performance. very few of those guys actually race. that pisses me off -- a dude shells out who knows how many 10s of thousands to build a big block with a blower for his vette, but never even races it? wtf? anyway, i digress. the old fart car show guys that like nothing but pre-70s style may not like em, but hang out at a drag strip or with anybody that actually races, and the turbo buick will get respect.

Yup, reminds me of the "pro-street" (more like pro-wannabe) trend back in the early to mid 90s with the pastel colors and color coordinated interiors. Of course that's prolly why they're pissed at us because we can drive our cars anywhere and most of them have to be trailered.

I say f#ck em, if they don't want to have us around then it's their loss. Better off just sticking to an all Buick car show anyway.

If you really want to feel like you're being pissed on, try driving a white "T" with Weld Draglites.

All the looks I get, might as well be driving a Yugo.

No...say it ain't so

I get looks all the time in my White T but it's usualy like their asking them selves, why he's got a set of DR's out back on that old Buick lol I wouldn't mind having a set of stock T-type wheels to really give it that 80's look ;) Anyways, I'm really sorry to hear/read about this Mark and everyone else. I'm from a small town and if we had a shut off year, there probaly wouldn't be enough cars to fill a parking lot. These people around here seemly enjoy all walks of life when it comes to cars...heck I know I do. I simply can't conceive on somoene doing something like this..exspecaily after helping you park the car in the show  That is just crazy.

PS, I can't wait for my first round of parts to arrive  I'm sure you'll remember me...I'm the one who's had hell with ordering stuff on your site this past week lol I sware this computer is out to do me in
