My dog had an infection, the vet had no clue what caused it, but my dog just had surgery, and he looks so miserable. I just stopped in on my way to work and they were just waking him up. He had his tounge hanging out, and was shaking, and every time i said his name he would try and lift his head to look at me. Now he has a tube going through his head, and 15 stitches, it completely breaks me up. Here are some pics

i would bet if he just had a surgery it's a form of staff infection, and if it is the tubes seem to be the key in healing, we had a cat a few years back same thing kind of had surgery and picked up an infection 3 times at the one vet which every time they would just cut um open drain and sew up, got fed up changed vets this vet cut him from neck to tail and up all 4 legs and when they sewed him up he had 5 tubes which let it drain and heal. hope all works out.

Good luck with your dog. Not sure how ANYONE can live without a dog. What kind of dog is it?

Its a coon hound mix of some sort. Someone dumped him in a ditch in our back yard last winter. He was half frozen when i found him and no one claimed him nor did anyone put up signs of a missing dog so I inherited him. His name is radar.

Not sure whatinital infection was from. I went to work at 130 on tuesday and he was fine. Tuesday night at 915 he had the lump the suze od a golf ball above his head, Then Wed Morning brought him to the vet, they got him on some antibiotics. Then on Thursday afternoon when I got home from work at 2 the lump was the size of a softball and his whole eye had swollen shut. He couldn;t walk straight due to that and the lump had also caused his side of face to swell so i couldn't eat cause it would cause pain to open his jaw. Brought him thrsday afternoon to the bet they said to do a drain, so did surgery and put the drain in, and they said they didn't see any slivers or other foreign objects, so they are culturing the fluids that were inside the lump to see if it was caused by a poisionuos spider, or what have you, find that out on monday when the tubes come out......He just looks so miserable, its hard to look at him.....Thanks for all the prayers, he is like my son since I have no kids, so that makes it worse......

Please give us an update with good news. I hope he recovers quickly.

Brandon, you are a good person to do that. Almost the same thing happened to us two weeks ago, We inherited a pure bred Great Dane who we found out is only 7 months old and 25 lbs underweight and was beaten. Our vet asked us if we will be keeping him and we did. He is a real good boy. We named him "Heinrich". To take a dog in like that is wonderful! I am sure Radar will be back on his feet real soon. Good luck, he is a cutie.

As of today Tuesday, we had the tube taken out. He seems peppy, yet his eye seems to be closing again, I figure I will wait a cou;le days and see how he looks, and make sure the antibiotics will take effect. New pics will be up tomorrow. Thanks for all the responses.
