yup-
i had john craig rebuild my spare turbo- got it on the car and finally decided to romp into it-
HOLY COW IT SPOOLS QUICK!!!!

here is the download of the car-
4.1 motor bored .040 over
fully ported and polished heads
pte upper,70mm accufab, and race jace power plate :D
hyd 220/220 cam
cas front mount
9 inch 3800 stall ?? its a guess, but it flashes high
atr 3inch D.P. with external wastegate
straight thru test pipe with dual 3 inch exhaust

well, i had a te60 turbo on the car just to drive around in the car while the turbo was off getting fixed- it spooled lightning quick with the 4.1 motor-
i decided to have the TE45a turbo exhaust housing upgraded to a PTE .85 housing for a little more lag---uhhh--- do they make a .95 housing?? the car spools way to quick still :)

just wanted ya'll to know this is a great setup, the car spools quicker than a stock turbo car- and runs like a raped ape!!

i will surely be upgrading to a much larger turbo in the future-
cause i launched the car off idle- and floored it, OMG it spooled lightning fast and smoked the tires immediately and roasted the tires in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear,..
even when the car was rolling in 3rd, the tires were hazing- even with ZAK in my car :)
will be bolting on the nittos, and going for broke at the track tomorrow--
last time to the track, she went 12.68 at 115.+++ on 17 psi of te60 boost on radials and street tires-- backpedaled all the way to 60 or so..
now it will have race gas, race chip hopefully, and the new housing is a .85 PTE--- hoping for anything past 122 with a non lockup convertor-

why go bigger? That 45 will take you further than a 4.1 will reliably stand?

It's a great turbo, tho, huh? :)

I have a 45a with a .82 housing and multidisk "7" pump vigilante, I know one thing, my car dosen't spool quick. I don't see how yours does. I have to floor my car for it to spool quickly. I have no part throttle quick spool. I just don't see how you can say it spools like a stocker. Believe me I am not calling bullsh!t, I'm wondering if my car is right. I must have something wrong with my load. I bet I could benefit from some GN1's.
Anyway, let us know what it runs. You should easily run 122 mph. Good Luck :)

i think the reason it spools very well is cause it has 4.1 motor in it- those extra cubes help out alot-

believe me- when i was driving the car around, i would ease into the throttle, and the boost was immediate- just like a well tuned stock turbo car!!

i dont know what the stall rating is on a 7 pump, but my car has a tremendus amount of slop with my slush box

dale- :p :D just rubbing it in some more :)

If thats the same car as your sig, then its probably the 009 cal. Theyre fat down low and that will cause it to spool slow. What you using for a chip?

A TE45 with a "O" stall works well. Also a AC 9" 16930. I've ran this turbo on 6 or 7 GN's (or more)

Jim, I have Red's chip for street and race calibrated for 55# injectors. The car dosen't spool that slow but it's not like Brian's car. Thanks

I spoke to JC at length about a 45a:

Too big for unported heads
Likely to surge
Big housings (> .63) have no place on stock displacement (231 CI) motors

Strike,
Hold those thoughts as you look at tail-lights!:D

I see tail-lights frequently. Like when I let my opponent get well out on me, so he knows what a T63E/.63 at 30 PSI coming up from behind feels like...

:D

Strike,

What you getting with that 63/.63 at 30 PSI? I had a T63E and started out with a .63 housing but switched to a PTE .85 with the result being tire smoke! Never got over 20 PSI (19.5) going 11.5@118 on pump gas, RA-93 and leaning out. Could only run a 1.78 60' with the .85 housing due to loss of traction with the 28"x 10.5 MT slicks. Best with untouched stock heads with a race chip and C-16 was 11.78@113 with the .63 housing.

UPDATE-

well i will be honest-- i was let down in the performance of the car tonight-- the turbo did its job, jus the car felt out of tune

so-i slapped on a set of 275/50/15 nitto extreeme drag555r's-
and on the way to the track, i had direct scan on, showing 0.0 knock with a 20* timing street chip-
then changed to a reds 107 high boost chip-
I TUNED THE CAR BLIND!! my ac/dc convertor wasnt working correctly and i dont have a mobile scanbastard- its on its way though!!--- but that didnt stop me from racing!!

the transmission didnt hold up long with the new upgraded turbo so that is why my top end charge didnt skyrocket like i had thought it would have--
the car went 11.81 and best mph was 118.04 with a best 60' of 1.86 all at 20-21 psi of boost with a reds 107 race chip and 13 gallons of 112 race gas-

i had to leave off idle and roll into the throttle so the tires wouldnt spin ( one pass was down right scary how quickly the nittos let loose) and i managed to get the car down the track slipping the 2-3 shift and barely could tell the car would shift to overdrive about 200 feet before the traps--
tires are too short and i dont want to rev the motor high, not yet atleast-

i was truely hoping for anything above 122mph with the .85 housing and much larger turbo, and added race chip--
i guess the new trans sitting in the garage will help alot, and getting a lock up convertor too should get it-- but darned if i dont like the convertor thats in it right now! :)

here are the last 3 passes at the end of the night
1.90 --- -- 1.869 ------- 1.95
5.117 ----- 5.03 ------ 5.17
7.73 ----- 7.632 ------ 7.785
93.66 ----- 94.35 ------ 94.00
10.007 ---- 9.898 ------ 10.039
11.93 ---- 11.81 ------ 11.946
117.09 ----- 117.44 ----- 118.04

im going to assume that the car will mph more when i get a boosted launch and toss the stock rear suspension out the door!!
the car has NO rear end mods!! not even a snubber! that is underway too!
things to fix are getting the direct scan to record a pass so i can tune this car, getting slicks under it, and getting the smc alky kit on the car so i dont have to use race gas!!
thanks for reading my bad night at the races

heheh...wish my good nights at the races are as good as your bad nights... ;)

My cam should be here next week for my 85...With a little luck, it should be in the car by next weekend, if the weather stays good(gotta work on car outside)...

My other block is going to the machine shop to get cleaned, decked, honed, new cam bearings installed, rods resized, new pistons put on, then once it's back, I need to finish it up and put it in the 87 T...

Why would you junk that suspension???? Just put a rr air bag and some good slicks on the back and maybe some race shocks and thats all you need. Nothing else!!!!;) Frank

TE60

I have a TE-60 and no stall. The car spools awesome. Car will swap ends with at me 45 if I don't watch it. No spooling problems.

The Wolfe control arms are solid - no bushings. If you use the car on the street you should get some opinions about ride quality.

ive got the suspension already and it has the sperical heim joints too-

are you saying the ride will be HARSH when i drive down the road?

cant be worse than a TTA?!?!?
