This happens to be for my 1983 Datsun 280zx turbo, but I took the dial-a-boost off of my GN, and same principles should apply...
So I just installed a "Turbonetics Dial-a-Boost" boost controller on my
1983 280zxt. Aftermarket boost gauge would go to about 4.5lbs at full throttle before installing manual boost controller (http://www.aggressiveauto.com/turboaccy.html - 3rd one down) Now the gauge spikes to about 1lb and hangs around 0 lbs. The boost controller was installed in the vacuum line that runs from the gold wastegate actuator to a sort of Tee that has two other lines running to it. One side of the boost controller has an arrow pointing out to show directional flow. I put the vacuum line leaving the controller to the wastegate actuator on the side with the arrow. The controller has a piece at the top that pops up and turns to raise boost. I popped the top up, did two full turns and popped the top down to lock the setting. Car gets 0-1lbs. Then I popped the top up, turned it some more -no change. Repeated this process untill the top had been turned many revolution -no change in results. Thought maybe something would change if I reversed the lines on the controller and put the arrow side going towards the tee as opposed to the wastegate -No change in results. Anybody have a clue as to what the hell is wrong???? Thanks!
