besides the mmo, how much xylene do i need to add to a 5 tank of gas (91) to get atleast 100 octane. ?
Thanks

33% xylene

1 gallon of xylene to 2 gallons of 93 octane

2.5 gallons of xylene to 5 gallons of 93 octane

117 x 2.5 + 93 x 5 = 7.5 gallons of 101 octane

$25 + $7.5 = $32.5

Its cheaper to buy 100 octane gas if the xylene is costing you $10 a gallon and the 100 octane is around $4 a gallon. You can get 5 gallons of xylene for around $25 if you ask around.

$32 at Sherman williams..

Don't forget to add 2 ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil/ gallon of toulene for the fuel pump lubrication.

How well do you guys think this stuff mixes in your gas tank? Is it OK to just pour in the xylene, pump in some gas, and pour in some MMO or do you have to put it all in the witches caldron and stir 'er up real good before it goes into the tank?

What the heck is xylene and why can't you use 104 octane boost like me and run 20 lbs of boost and 24*of timing with the SMC set on 5 to 6 on the dial . I get 0 deg. of knock and still have spray to go for more boost .

Snappy,
104 octane boost will coat your combustion chamber with all kinds of red goo. You are paying $5 for a pint of stuff that has all kinds of worthless chemicals in it, and the main product in it is xylene. Look at most of the octane boosters. The main ingredient is xylene. So instead of paying $5 for a pint of xylene with chemicals that coat the plugs, pay $7 for a gallon of it. Do a search on xylene. It is 117 octane and it cleans the fuel system and doesn't hurt the o2 sensor

black6pack

can you please explain this ratio for me so i can use 91 instead of 93

117 x 2.5 + 93 x 5 = 7.5 gallons of 101 octane

For a 33% mixture, which is the maximum you want, you need to put in half the amount of xylene as you do gas.

10 gallons of gas - 5 gallons of xylene
2 gallons of gas - 1 gallon of xylene.

The formula is - octane of gas times the number of gallons + octane of xylene times the number of gallons devided by the total number of gallons

So in the example provided it would be

117 times 2.5 plus 91 times 5 / 7.5 = 99.666

117 x 2.5 =292.5
91 x 5 =455
455+292.5=747.5

747.5/7.5=99.666

Clear as mud?
