Can you use something like WD40 or some other oil on your K&N and not hurt the element?

I don't want to pay for something I might already have.

I would think that there is more to risk here than hurting the element. I would worry about the motor. I think that all oils designed for air filter use are special formulation oils specifically designed for their particular usage. But I am just guessing though. Nothing that I would do on my car.

I found the cleaning kit which comes with the cleaner and oil for 10.95 and Oreillys. Thanks guys.
