keep breaking shifter handle

That part of the shifter is not very strong so really nothing you can do except be more gentle when shifting into gear...since the shifter isn't centered on the rod try not to put a lot of force on the outer edge of the handle...it will eventually break...are you shifting gears when you drive?...if you are then just get a ratchet shifter
 
i keep break the lil plastic peice in the shifter handle that holds the clip that holds the handle on..

question is

is there some other option for a shifter handle i can use with the original shifter? some kind of handle that i can attach thats made stronger? any diff options?


Brian at GBody parts has a replacement factory handle that utilizes some aluminum internals that seem to hold up much better than the plastic parts. You can order these metal parts separately or installed in a new factory handle. Believe Kirbans' also has these available too.
