keys stuck!

hey guys sounds stupid but i cant get the keys out of the car. its the first time they have touched the ignition in months i put them in to unlock the steering wheel so i could pull the brakes off and now i cant get the key back to the lock position and it looks like it on. my engine is still in the shop but when im done it would suck to get everything together then put the battery back in and its on you know. any ideas how to get the thing out?

Try to wiggle the shift lever and the base of the column where it turns when you shift the gears....sometimes the park lever is not in the right position....so the key thinks it is still in gear...make sense?

Rotate the column, then the key will come out
