I guess most guys breeze right through putting these on but of course, not me!
The rear bumper I actually got on and bolted. It fits pretty good except the bumper filler. I knew my rears needed replaced but didn't look bad with the old stock bumper. With this fiberglass piece I think your rear fillers have to be in great shape with no sagging or you will get visual problems. On mine you can see the locater tabs at the end of the fillers in the bumper area. My bumper filler sags and with no inner support they droop down enough to be seen very clearly
I guess this should be pointed out that with the fiberglass units the inner support is missing and nothing is there to hold your fillers up
Only problem with the rear. On to the front.
The front when held in place by hand fits like a glove, actually I like the fit better than factory. Only problem is I can't get it to align! Maybe it is the brackets on the bumper or my aluminum bumper brackets, at this point I don't know which
Both bumper brackets when bolted to the frame sit inwards about 1/2" too far so that they will never line up with the bumper slots. I can probably take them off and have the holes stretched to move them farther apart and solve that issue. Next issue is the bumper when in the correct place to align with the the front of the car sits about 1/2" too high. For this I was thinking I may have to cut the plate on the aluminum bumper brackets that attaches the bumper off and move it up 1/2" and weld it. Lot of fit work IMO! Anyone else run into these problems?
I am told with the rear fiberglass bumper you are better off (especially if your rears sag!) to get the fiberglass rear supports because they don't have locater tabs and are more ridgid. I think even with good rear fillers when you run the fiberglass bumpers with no inner support your fillers will eventually sag because nothing is there to hold them up.
Who makes real good quality rear fiberglass bumper fillers?
