ok guys i got a quick question
i recently put scanmaster v2 on my car
i alsop have the 87 ecm and chip also

well i was curious to see if my sensor was workin cuz i am gettin some audible pingin on my car, yet not a thing on the scanmaster

welp i started it up and put a block of wood on the intake and whapped it a few times and not a damn thing showed up
for as hard as i was hittin it somethign should have showed up, becuase that woulda been some hellacious knock !

sooo my question is, is it more likely for a knock sensor to go bad or is the esc module that processeses the knock sensor data to the ecm, more likely the problem
possibly a bad ground?

i was wondering is any1 had any insight of whut would make the sensor not work
last thing i wanna do it buy 2 parts and dont need either one

appreciate any comments, thanx alot guys

brian

A block of wood isn't going to make the right kind of noise for the knock sensor to pick up...The knock sensor is looking for a noise in a certain frequency range...

Take a long socket extension and place it somewhere on the block and hit that with a hammer and see if your knock sensor goes nuts...That should get it to register...
