Hey guys, i replaced my torq converter 3 month ago w/ a 2500 stall lockup. everything has been perfect. Last Sunday I went to go for a ride and there was a good size puddle on the floor, while the car was running it was dripping out of the Flywheel/Torq Converter dust cover hole. Last Night I put it up on Jack stands, ran it through all the gears, and not a drop? Is the seal bad, or was the trany over filled? Can it leak out of the seal from too much fluid? Right now it is half way between the marks on the stick. any help or suggestions would be awesome.

If you put the front wheels up on the jackstands and it quit, it sounds like the front of the pan is leaking and wicking into the torque converter cover and dripping out the hole. If it were the seal, it would still drip as long as it is running.

thanks for the info. When I said it was up on jackstands I meant that I had 4 of them the car was level. I looked the pan over and it seems dry around the gasket, the thing that worries me is the fact that there is fluid behind the torq converter on the pump housing, hence the dripping down. I drove the car last night , no leaks. This morning there was a spot the size of a quarter on the floor. I'll look it over again and check the pan gasket, I HOPE it's that....

One other thing that is possible (if the trans is older) is that the pump Oring could be brittle and leaking outward and collecting in the torque converter cover. Best thing is to remove the dust cover and try and look up to the pump seal and see if you can see a trail leading down to the bottom. It could come from behind the seal where it contacts the pump body or the lip seal itself. Also check the pump bolts and make sure they are tight.
