I am putting a tach in the buick while the motor is getting rebuilt and would like to see what tachs u guys are using and how u mounted them.

Go to Home Depot they sell aluminum strips. Drill a few holes, little creative bending, and some spray paint and for under $5 bucks your tach is mounted! It don't shake or move nice and solid!

sold!! wow that didnt take long...

as far as what gauge, i really dont want one that goes to 4k rpms more then i need but ive noticed my options r limited. i also want a shift light

Yea it's hard to find gauges for our cars. I just keep in mind if it goes much past noon on that tach I'll be sweeping up pistons! :D I wanted the entire car done in carbon fiber gauges so that was the only tach that went with the other gauges in the car.

Ran out of places to put it. ;)

Imediately above the radio is the Electronic HVAC controls, and above that is the scanmaster/GNS gauge cluster.

love the set up
BTW what is that thing right above your radio?

To elaborate on Dave's post, it is a thermostat type control like the one in your home which can turn on/off the air/heat to keep a set temperature, only available on the '86. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I know, its sacrilege to bolt through the radio pod, but the car came that way. I like the placement and the recall feature along with the accuracy of a high end gauge over the stock.

Couldn't decide on the style of bracket for the tachometer......so, I installed a GNX style dash with my VDO gauges instead.
Kidglok you beat me to it!
LOL

Ah ha!

RIGHT above the radio........I get it!

I had that set up on my 86 GN.

For Buick, that was quite a "bells and whistles" option for the period.

Sorry about the wise-assed remark, it was early.

Here's my set up.
