Lift Kit and Tires and Wheels--Opinions Please

Guys, I bought this 2006 F 150 for my son,

We have put the tunes in it, great sounding exhaust, some other small items and now it's time for a set of tires and wheels, and a minor lift.

We dont want a hi rise 4x4, just something to make it set up a little bit and some tires and wheels to fill the wells.

It has 18" on it now with stock suspension.

I have 22 inch trail grappler tires and it has been a challenge to keep them balanced. An expensive challenge. I bought good shocks when I did the lift and that makes a difference.

Thanks! 99% of the miles will be in town here,, not a lot of hiway driving but thanks for the heads up!

We are thinking a black rim with chrome hi lites nothing too radical. I just want to make sure we put the appropriate tire/wheel combo with the lift.

Invest in the steering dampers too, try top gunz customs, they make their own kits. They have lift kits as well.

How about just a body lift Ty. It should be easy enough for you to do it. It also will give him room for a bigger tire and not raise the CG so it will be less likely to roll over.

Much less expensive in the end since all the alignment issues that can happen with a lifted truck are eliminated. There's a few issues with the radiator and a few wires but you and your boy could easily do it together in an afternoon so you've got bonding time and a lot less headaches.

We put this kit on in a couple of hours, had it aligned at a regular shop. I think the total investment was around 500.

Yeah follow the advice here bro... Simple small lift and I would go with 20's.... Hate to say it but you can get both on ebay for a good a price as anywhere.... Heck we can get both parts from several distributors but I just ordered my lot manager a 03 ford lift kit off of ebay and I bought my wife's rims off of ebay and I have like 10 sources to buy rims... The distributor in GA wanted more per wheel and more for shipping than the guys I bought them off of in Cali

A couple of 85 dollar oil changes, and a few 120 dollar tanks of diesel and you wouldn't want the F250. Just put 75 dollars worth of RevX oil additive in it on the last oil change on top of the 85 bucks.

Thanks, I do like it when it's clean. The wind caught the driver's door the other day and smashed it into an awning post, so it's jacked up and it's driving me crazy.

Damn! That sucks, and I feel your pain...I scraped a fender in a narrow, twisty West LA parking structure in my GMC a couple of months ago and it about killed me. I get anxious as hell over any damage to my cars (especially if its visible) so I had it in the shop the very next day. Put a serious damper on my budget but I couldn't stand it.

Hope you get it fixed, that truck is too damn sexy to be rolling with body damage! I don't even like Fords but I like THAT one
