got my new pushrods today. i'm showing about .040 preload. is that ok? flat tappet cam. thanks

I really like to see 25 to 35 but that will work just fine.

I set mine at 25 also.

the next size pushrod would only leave me at about .015

Go with .040 or get customs.

You will need to research but can you shim the rocker shaft assembly allowing you to use the .040's but get the preload down to .025? Of course you have the option to go with a set of T&D's or Harland Sharp's adjustable but that is about $500.

I have been shimming rocker shafts for 20 years. Do NOT use hardened steel washers or you will crack the pedistals.

I target a pre-load on standard lifters (not anti-pump up) at .040". I think you are good with your current pre-load. For higher RPM's then target pre-load at .010"-.025".
