anyone hear of a lifter problem in #3 cyl that can only be cured by a gm original cam. I was told that gm has the exaust lifter galley off to one side and it caused it to eat the lifter. I know that this is the problem I am having with my comp 212-212 cam but can't find any more info. If this is true I may just go to a roller as the gm is going to be about 900$ by the time I get cam + lifters.any info I can get will help me decide soon. thanks

Yup- a very well known problem. #3E bore is offset enough that the lifter spins in the wrong direction and at 1/2 the speed it should. The cure isn't a new GM cam- it's more zinc and pressure additives in the oil.

Since you're geared up to spend $900 for a cam, go roller (about $800) and leave your worries behind.
