Anyone use a smaller, lighter battery (in the stock location) that does not require adapters ?

Did you need a battery box?

If so, what kind of battery and/or box ?

I'm looking for something to save a little weight, but hopefully does not cost an arm and a leg, and is not a PITA to install.

just put a battery relocation box in the trunk. it will cost as much as a battery and you can use the battery that you have now.

No desire to relocate the battery. Too much work....

Anyone else ???

TTT

Nobody's tried to lighten the front end a little with a smaller battery ???

I have a buddy who used to work at napa. He did it on his car and the battery works great, i know he got a side post just like the factory ones.

Call napa up and ask someone there what the group sizes are smaller than the one you have. Probably around 600cca or so?

I have an Hawker Oddessy battery in my Z06. It is dry cell and is lighter. They have side mounts and a special plastic bracket you can get as well. I use one of the 925 series batteries. It's tiny compared to the big lead acid batteries.

+1, and +2 for the Oddessy battery. I've been using a tiny one for three years in another car.

Mine is around twelve pounds! Little motorcycle battery. Tested much higher than rated.

PC535 for a Harley. Twelve pounds. Works just fine to start most any motor. Not the best for booming radios, but great for light weight race cars. I love mine. Tested way higher then rated. I bought mine at a battery store called Batteries Plus. They have very good tools for testing, charging, even making custom batteries.

How much does the regular acid batteries weigh around the 800cc mark.

Any pics of it installed on your GN?
Curious on the bracketing.

The PC680 is probably plenty for most warm weather GN's, nice find

My GN battery is in my trunk, and I have an empty Optima battery shell as a fake under my hood ($20 for the empty display shell, looks just like a real battery, but empty). I can jump start my car on the fake battery, as I have the OEM wires going to it. I made new wires going to starter and to ground for the battery in my trunk. (Tricky Dick) I'm not drilling a hole in my GN for an on/off switch.

The PC535 is in another car. I have drained it by accident many times, and it comes back to life over and over. No problems starting even in cold weather.

Dennis Hogan runs a small optima in his street car that is made for a civic or something. Its a yellow top, I don't know what he had to do to mount it but it should't be that difficult. I think he said it saved about 10#'s.
