I finally broke down and got an LM-1 wideband O2 setup and also got the LMA-2 cable and 3 bar MAP from a board member. I've downloaded the various manuals and read through them but I have a few questions (I'm sure I'll have many more once I get into it).

First is with hard-wiring the LM-1. It says that the O2 sensor needs powered up AFTER the engine starts, not with the key. So they talk about wiring up a relay. Looks to me like they way they want you to wire up the relay, it would give power to the O2 sensor when you turn the key on but cut it while you're cranking. Once the engine starts (you stop cranking) it will give power to the O2 sensor again. Do I really need to wire up a relay? I thought there were circuits in the car that drop out while cranking. If there are, does anyone know which ones?

Second is with regard to the 3-bar MAP. Evidently it needs a 5-volt power supply. On the Innovate forum they suggest getting a $1.60 regulator from Radio Shack but I figure there must be a source for a steady 5V in the car somewhere already? Anyone know where? On the Innovate forum they mention that there is actually 5V output on the RPM cable but they don't bring it out to a terminal for fear that someone would wire it up incorrectly. Worst case is I can bring that wire out.

Last is how to capture EGT. I have a probe in the header and would like to use it with the RPM cable. I see Full Throttle sells an EGT amplifier. Does the amplifier convert the EGT signal to a 0-5V signal (if so is there 5V I can get off of that for the MAP reference)?

Thanks!

Jim
