The only track close to me is an 1/8 mile. Would I see any gains locking the tc after the 2-3 shift? Will this wear out the tc? The car currently shifts into third at 5550 rpm and 54 mph with the tc unlocked. If I lock it, at what mph should I do it? Thanks.

your converter isn't coupling well at all. Locking will improve mph but your leaving a bunch on the table. You shouldn't need third till your around 75mph with a 28 inch tire and 3.42 rear

I don't think he mentioned his tire size, but you're right. Reving that high at only 54 mph is BAD!! My vigilante shifts at 5100 at just under 64mph.

But to add...... I always lock my tc at wot because I can (multi disc vigilante), and in the quarter I lock it at 85 mph, and gained 3 mph over unlocked. In the 1/8, I always lost mph locking it. There's no good speed/place to lock on a 1/8 track

I will put my 10" PTC back in. Thanks for the help.
At your level you really need a 9.5" ptc. I could see you cutting you e.t. by .2 in the eighth. Your wasting so much in the 330' because of slip it's hard to say what's going to happen with a more efficient converter. Your shift rpm will likely drop and the trans may need a little governor tuning. Fwiw my black car shifts 2-3 at 87-88mph with a 29" tire and a ptc 9.5"

You need to gear for the eighth. If you gear it properly you could have some gain. No where near as much with a good converter though.
