Like it states. Looking for someone good to work on my GN thats close to tha ATL area.

You have the Buick GS Club of America an hour or two south of you.

I'm Northeast of Atl. Really abt 45m away from Atl. I'm thinking about having a cam and lifter swap and some other things done. I hear you just can't let anyone work on these cars.

Let me know if you find anyone. I've been looking for almost a year with no luck.

No, you can't just let anyone work on these cars. Over the years there's been many new owners that have paid the price to teach pro mechanics they don't know how to work on these cars. It sounds like you're up around Road Atlanta. I think there's some people that live on that corner of ATL but I can't think of who off the top of my head.

I'll offer this piece of advice up before the first wrench is picked up.... If you're current cam and lifters are not wiped, DO NOT change them out. Brand new flat tappet replacement cams and lifters are nowhere near the quality of what was available when out cars were new. Not to mention there were quite a few people in the 10s with stock cams back in the day.

Also, that job leads itself to a bunch of "as long as I'm there's". While the timing cover is off you might as well port and mod the oil system, and while that's off you need to drop the pan and clean the timing chain teeth out of the oil pick up. Hopefully the crossover bolts will come right out with out breaking to get the pan down, etc.....

Agree. I just sold my T-Type to my friend that kept on bugging me to sale it to him. So now i'm gonna spend a little time and money on my 197k mile GN. I already installed a cam and timing chain yrs ago around 140-150k miles. Like ppl been telling me. If it's not broke, don't fix it. Haha. It's in my friends body shop getting some new bolts and a body bushing kit installed. Fig I would start there for a better ride. And move from there for now.

Or with our cars...if it aint broke it soon will be.
Haha. yep. I'm hoping to tune it and get some good numbers this yr. Then i'm done tracking it. Just hoping it will stay 2gether. Shooting for some high 11's. If I get that time slip. I'm done until I have tha money to replace motor just in case it goes BOOM.

You can get high 11's out of a stock GN without taking the valve covers off if the car's running right.

hold on to your money John....lets get some numbers out of your car before jumping into the engine.....as I mentioned to you.....you have an 11 sec combo. We need to see what the car will do with traction and everything working right before opening it. Just like Earl said once you open the engine it will lead to lots more than just a cam swap.....ask me how I knowo_O

As far as someone to work on the car.....I have not found anyone in our area for the longest time....we both know the name of the guy from years ago but I am not gonna mention his name due to some bashing sure to go on lol!!!! ;)

As you know i do all my own work and I have gone roller in my car.....if your engine needs to come out I would suggest roller as well.....plan on a complete build when that time comes since you have 140k on the clock. I would be happy to help you with that if its needed.

Lets get it to the track first and lay down some numbers to see what it will do and what if any problems the car has.

Thanks Joey. I have abt 197k plus on the clock. Put the cam and timing chain and lifters in around 140ish. By that person and comapany that we want mentioned. Haha. And Just to think abt things. I bet you I really didn't need a turbo at that time. But glad I have tha Te-44 turbo. Or should I say your old one from back then. Now that was real funny when i found that paperwork. But anyway. I hope you put up some good numbers this Saturday. Wish I could come. But I have to work. Plus, paul and don and that crew are going to NC. As soon as commerce opens. I'll meet you there so we can tune my car. Thanks for all tha Help and Tips.

no sweat John I enjoy helping when I can......I know it is crazy how you ended up with my old turbo pretty hilarious!

I will let you know how Saturday goes

there sure is no shortage of Mustang Builders\Tuners

Yep. My friend had both his mustangs done at kurgans. They did a good job. But I dont know about them doing tha GN. Someone told me that there's a place in FL that does a great job. But would hate to have it shipped there. Prob a lot of $$ there and back.
