well it's time for a new turbo (leaking oil in i/c) and would like to upgrade and would like some input on what size mite be good for me(please look at sig. for my mods) also i will be upgrading to 60lb. injectors a tt chip and maybe a orange or red stripe conv. i dont see any track time just a lot of stop and go driving (95+ temps) i would like a mid to low 11sec. car (if i ever get to a track) i would like to keep my quick spool up for my street driving (boy! i shure want alot!) thanks in advance, terry :)

What RPM stall are those converters? Stock block, too? You have many options... 44, 49, a/e60, 3255, 6131... I'm considering a cpte60 -- as my 44 is crapping out.

60 isn't much bigger than the 44/49 but will get to the low elevens without much stress on it with the right combo. That's the route I plan on going sometime. Cotton's turboes are good for the money!, his cpte60 comes with an upgraded turbonetics compressor housing, vsr balancing and some other stuff not found on standard te60s...

hth :D

that cottons turbo looks like it is just what i'm looking for (just checked it out) thanks for you help :) terry by the way, which ext. housing is best for the street the 63 or the 85

With the cpte60 and those converters... get the .63 housing! You're running alky, don't forget the HD actuator too. The .63 exhaust housing is better for street applications as it has quicker spool up, while the other housing has slower spool up but gives a bit more pull on the top end!

hth :)

Since your turbo is leaking anyways, you have to replace it. A 60 or variant of it will work well. If you have the bucks the dual ball bearing turbos are very responsive. A 62 dual bb will run 10.8s with no problem. I am tuning an Innovative dual bb 66 right now on a stock block. It is great on the street and seems to have plenty of air left for the track.

I would work on getting a 9 inch converter next. The reduced weight makes the motor spin much faster and the turbo as well. You can get one with a 2800 stall speed and will work fine for every day driving. The 9X11 converters keep the lock up feature for highway driving too. You cant go wrong with them.

Innovative Turbo, Cottons, Turbonetics, PTE, just about every vendor out there carries them.

I have a TA 60 and very happy! My next will be 61bb good for 10's. Congrats buddy let us know how it feels it sould be like a new car

.

HEY tERRY,

Good talkin to you, turbo went out yesterday, thanks. Turns out we have more in common, while talkin to your brother, he told me what he does, I have 3 Harleys...... and enough parts to build almost 3 more.. Unfortunately, since getting heavy into the GN's they have taken the back seat. I used to use my low rider for a pit bike, that was fun... until we got a golfcart. Now I just sneak a ride here and there.... If you need anything give me a call, and remember, until we get that TC upgraded, you will be pretty doggie on the bottom end.... but you are headed in the right direction.
thanks again,

You will like it... I LOVE mine. :D

I got the Cotton 60 on my car and it's sick. I'll probably be upgrading my injectors soon to fully utilize it's potential...

i got that 61bb turbo on today, and after a short test ride and looking for leaks, i was happy to find that the spool time is really not as slow as i thought it was going to be :) boy! i bet this thing will spool like mad with a 3200 9 or 10in converter :D THANKS JACK FOR YOUR HELP AND TIME!! I had my car at the track tonight with the 61bb turbo. I had issues with the boost controller, so I unplugged the solenoid and ran straight off the wastegate. At only 14psi, I went 13.40 @ 98. This is on a stock longblock, 3000 stall, PTE FMIC, etc. I'm pretty happy with those times considering the low boost and mild timing (23*).
