Looking for a switched 12VDC wire to the ignition

On a typical HEI ignition, there is only one 12 VDC wire to the coil that powers the coil.

I am not familiar with the distributorless ignition used on the 86-87 intercooled cars. Does the coil have a switched 12VDC positive wire to it? If so, which one would it be?
 
should be pink with a black trace.this wire will be found on almost all sensors,solenoids,etc. ign 1 circuit.
 
also,to answer your pm, any name brand alarm installed correctly (especially hidden well) the flashing led is enough to deter most.....a couple of kill switches helps too. Ive used turn signals for example to trigger ign kill relays.all kinds of tricky stuff can be wired if you use your imagination;)
 
Thanx Gary, doesn't seem like there's too many alarms that work these days, they go off all hours of the day and night and everyone ignores them. Maybe if I put a few high decebel alarms inside (too loud for a thief to stand) and a few outside under the car it might send off a few would be thieves.

yep, nothings worse than a shock sensor set too high giving false alarms:mad: . i spend the time with my customers educating them on how sensitive a shock sensor really needs to be.so you know if my alarm goes off something is really wrong.
 
Coil power is pin M pink/blk wire off the CCCI 10A fuse.

Module power is pin P pink/blk wire off the ECM/IGN 10A fuse.
 
Yeah, last alarm I had no matter how low you set the sensitivity on it, the alarm would go off. Seems like even a mild breeze would set it off.

Thanks. At this point I'm a bit stumped, since as someone mentioned there's more than 1 pink and black wire.

I was looking at the pink/black that goes to the A6 terminal on the ECM. I take it this wire is routed thru the firewall behind the blower box and then along the loom on the firewall?

The switched coil power wire you originally mentioned in your first question is found under the hood at the CCCI module plug Pin M off the CCCI fuse.

A6 on the ECM is off the ECM/IGN fuse and powers the ECM also.

If you cut it at the ECM it may disable the car and ECM, but the coil will still have power to it since it's on another fuse.

I'm not sure if the module Pin P power would be disabled or not if you open the wire at the ECM location probably not.

Again the original question of coil power is answered by the Pin M pink/blk wire off the CCCI fuse.

Disabling the purple/wht wire on Pin B5 at the ECM. the reference pulses, is the easiest theft control method as the car won't start or run with it disabled.

And doesn't kill the ECM/chip memory etc.

Assuming that is what you are trying to do? :confused:

An open B5 purple/wht. stripe wire will cause a crank but no start condition without resetting or bothering in any way the ECM. :smile:

In other anti-theft threads there are some schematics on how to install a kill switch or switch plus relay with redundancy (multiple poles), and safety (car won't die if kill switch is hit when driving). :cool:
