I'm looking at the ATR deflector TM ($19.95) which is an aluminum shield that prevents hot radiator air from recirculating into the intercooler. Does it work and is it worth the 20 bucks?

Secondly, I'm looking at an ATR product which is their radiator pressurization kit. This product ($89.95) boxes in the radiator on the grille side and forces air to pass through the radiator rather than dispersing out by the headlights and down by the bumper. It is said to lower radiator temps considerably. Anybody got one and care to comment?

My coolant temps here in hot humid GA are 190-200 with AC on max and outside temps at 92-4 with heat index at 100. Are those temps a little on the hot side? Just looking for some options besides new radiator replacement at this time.

Thanks for any help guys!

If anyone paid $110 total for both those products, I doubt you'll get anyone to stand up and say "Oh yeah, best money I ever spent". :D However, the concepts are good. A little creativity with a truck inner tube and some sheetmetal will duplicate the results of the real thing. I'd rather see you put your money into something worthwhile. I apologize for not answering your question from personal experience with the products.

Thanks John. I may heed your advice!

What about my coolant temps I mentioned? Do you think those are within normal limits for my climate? Would a radiator flush help or would it exacerbate any problems I might already have? Radiator is stock but has been replaced about 5 yrs ago.

The second product you mention should already be in your car. Take a peek underneath the front by the radiator and you see the deflectors to direct the air through the radiator. If you don't have any, I would buy them.

Another thought is to add Ramchargers Dual Fans. :) A great upgrade for the buck!

First thing I bought for my stock car was the $20 air deflector...liked the concept and think it worked. It fit nicely around the IC and looked to be an effective air damn.

Doesn't fit the V4 IC so mine has been sitting on a shelf for about 3 years :) Could make one yourself with some sheet metal and cutting tools but I liked the pre-made black anodized look, and since I was buying my exhaust from them at the same time shipping costs were not a concern....so for $20 I thought why make it myself:)

I have no knowledge of the other parts.

I always liked the products made by ATR...thought they were well thought out and high quality.

Your coolant temps(190-200)in that climate w/a.c. on max, that sounds pretty good to me in those conditions.

Evans,

When our club was at Reynolds a couple of weeks ago with the Mustangs it was hot , 92 ° at the track while racing.....When driving back my Scanmaster showed 200 ° all the way back to Atlanta...I have a Front mount and a 11 x 11 trans cooler in front of the radiator (stock original) and I was surprised it stayed that cool :p
Our members said their's ran 195° - 208° driving back ...... Mine always ran that hot in the 95° hot days , but come fall and winter it's 162° - 175° .......

I never used the ATR kit though.
Only thing I did was mount my fan up against the Radiator at the top, easy to do, just re-mount the top of the fan under the air-cond brackets and use old rubber grommets so it will be pressed up against the radiator...I'll show you if you can come to Reynolds in Oct..

We'll be at Reynolds again OCT 5th , since the Musty's invited us again for another shoot-out ........

:) Alan

Yes, that factory piece is in my car - just didn't know if this ATR product was a vast improvement over it?

I'm running the stock single fan.

Thanks for your input. :)

Sounds like the temps my car has been running aren't out of line based on what you and the members saw on the return from SDR. I may just do a good flush. Black Demon (Mike Waters) and I were talking earlier today on the phone about taking a ride up to Chuck Leeper's to purchase some of the RMI-25 and go that route.

I'll try and make the Oct SDR event. Had a conflict for the recent one and couldn't come. Heard it was a pretty good TR turnout of 9-10 cars or so.

Our meeting is this Saturday at a new location off I-75 at Windy Hill exit... turn left on Windy Hill and it's on the left 200 yds called , "3 Dollar Cafe" ... at 11:00am :) Stop by if you can......

I have the radiator pressurization kit and its a GOOD product, but I don't see any sense on the deflector. This design is a bit different from the stocker. Its an excellent replacemet from the torn up, brittle stocker. The kit does allmost the same as the stock set up but don't come with one that attaches to the bottom of the grill. But there is a piece that goes below the air dam that aids air flow directly into the radiator. Its a good design and look good and its all aluminun power coated black. This kit is fits nearly perfect and does what it suppose to do..

I also noticed the car cools alot faster when driving on the freeway. I can get in the 160's with the A/C on a HOT day!

My 87 GN has the ATR deflectors on it, they were on it when I bought it. Also has a little switch behind the grill that cycles the fan on when you come to a stop and off @ highway speeds. Seems to keep the car in the 160-185 range most of the time. It also comes with a deflector that boxes in the crank fan - I guess the idea is to move as much air as posible thru the intercooloer.
