I have a 3.5hp briggs go-cart that I'm messing with. Some of you may have seen it at the Nats this year. It is definately "unique."

Well, I'm trying to make it faster and am having trouble getting info online on basic mods/upgrades. Can anyone point me in the direction of some good info (how to's, bulletin boards, etc.) for something like this?

(Note: I know it's ONLY a 3.5hp motor, so don't tell me to get a 5hp... I want to make due with what I have now :) ).

I'm specifically looking for info on:
- head porting/gasket matching.
- intake work (carb, airbox, etc).
- exhaust changes

Instead of buying parts, I'd like to do as many "free mods" as I can and/or make my own stuff.

So far I've adjusted the governor, made a open exhaust (14" with a slash cut tip :) ), and opened up the airbox. I'm working now to install a digital tach, speedo, and home made wheelie bars (yes, it needs them!). I have a factory manual coming along with a new head gasket (I want to port & gasket match the head/intake).

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

P.S. I'll be at Ohio for the BPG Nats if anyone wants see how their pit machine will do up against it! We were undefeated in Bowling Green.

Banning. i am about to go to work but you can call a friend of mine here in AZ he works on small motors and mainly go ped stuff but he ports hards etc.

he works for bronco one CB in phoenix. if your interested i will grab the number when i get home. his name is scott.

you can find the number online as well.

maybe that will help.

Myself and two co-workers bought/built 3 kid's karts to race in the parking lot at our work on the weekend. The first race was innocent enough...but after that, each of us went "mod-crazy" and started adding pipes, race slicks, gauges, etc... It is starting to get out of control now!

Anyway, I have found a lot of good information on this website, especially in the Briggs and Stratton forum:

J Banning, do you have a picture of your kart that you can e-mail to me? I'm interested in seeing a kart that needs wheelie bars!
