Hey all just looking for some help/input. I just installed an alky kit, cpt61 bb turbo, 42.5lb injectors, fuel pump, fuel pressure reg, tt chip, scanmaster 2.1 and a ptc 9.5 in conv. The car doesn't have any low end power and when i get into the turbo at 15-18lbs it seems to have a flat/dead area where it makes no more power. What do i have to do to get some real good low end power so it will at least break the tires loose and to get rid of that dead spot. The scanmaster tps #'s have been adjusted to 42 at idle and 4.68 at wot. The 02#'s are in the low 800s at wot. Where do i go from here? Any and all help would be great Thanks Rob

Are you running the stock exhaust w/ a cat?
Do you have any bad leaks on the headers?
What size is the exhaust side on the turbo?
Have you ajusted the TT chip?

The exhaust is 2.5 in aftermarket cat back! I didn't notice any leaks and it is a stock downpipe. I will try to get into messing with tt chip later today, should i take fuel away/add fuel? Timing?

Before you start adding/removing fuel I would make sure everything is OK first. Can you post your Scanmaster #'s at idle and WOT? How much boost are you running? Stock DP and elbow are going to be a restriction. You should consider a 3" DP, port the elbow in the meantime if that is not an option. Definitely something to consider in the future though. Any vacuum leaks?

What TT chip do you have the Alky or Race.

What Alky kit are you running?

I have been looking for a T.H. style downpipe kinda hard to get any idea where to get one. There don't seem to be any vac leaks. My chip is for my car/combo i had eric burn it for me last week and im running razors progressive alky kit using denatured alcohol. Ill try to get scanmaster #'s out today

I took the car out for a drive and it stumbles to shift and stumbles in second and third gear here are some of my scanmaster #'s
AF .06
L8 31
BAT 13.5
Int 128
Bl 125
Clt 187 I Dont have my 160' thermostat yet
Ats 100
RPM 1100 IDLE
TPS .42 IDLE 4.64 WOT
iac 07
CC 203 Warm after run
PL 00
Scanmaster read 02 at 800 wot 71 mph and 17lbs boost

Numbers dont look too far off at idle. I would take the time to go through the IAC reset procedures here. IAC Reset Procedure That should bring your IAC counts up and bring your idle down. Thats for the stock cam/idle settings.

O2's at 800 WOT isn't bad either, a little rich but not too far off. 750-780 would be better. Better rich than lean. Is the Alky kit on at that point? If it is, I would disable the Alky kit.

Get the car running right on just the 93 Octane at 16-17 psi, and then proceed with the Alky Kit from there. Seems like you have added a lot of performance parts at once, could be several small things all at the same time. I hope this helps.

someone correct me if i'm wrong ....... but with the TurboTweak chip, the car will be in open loop at idle unless he follows the instructions for keeping the car in closed loop for readings (& tuning). make sure it's in closed loop prior to attempting any tuning.

secondly, i agree that it would be a good idea to get things dialed in before introducing the alky into the mix.

Will it be ok if i have a chip tuned for the alky to turn it off and tune it?

Do you have a 93 chip? Might want to give Eric Marshall a call or post on the turbotweak forum and get specifics as what would need to be changed in your chip to get it close to a 93 chip. I know the timing is different and probably the fuel curves, but the fuel part is speculation on my part.

I wondered the same thing when I got my first TT chip, but after asking on this board. I was told open loop is fine. Here's the thread: http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/ge...h/217593-gremlins-gremlins-more-gremlins.html

Wastegate puck alignment

If you are running the stock downpipe I would bet the wastegate puck is too small for the wastegate hole in the turbo.

I do have a 93 chip ill try tuning without the alky. I am also still running the stock downpipe looking for a T.H. style. I do recall reading about porting out the stock downpipe how do i go about doing this, IS there anything else i can do to get this to move better off the line?

Check to see if the WG puck completely covers the hole in the turbo. I know that if I run the stock DP with my TE-44 there is no way that I can get over 5# of boost since the W/G puck is too small.

I can get more than5lbs of boost it just isnt spooling up quick ill get my max boost just a little bit before shift.

Ill go and check it, if it is smaller where do i go from here?

Either take it to a machine shop and have them port/machine it out. Or take the compressor housing off the turbo yourself and port it out to within 1/8 of an inch of the ring from the wastegate puck with a die grinder or dremel tool.
