Looking to move outta Jersey - suggestions?

I'm looking to get out of this Rat Race (aka North Jersey) and into a quieter lifestyle. I'm a teacher by trade with outstanding computer skills. Cold weather is what I want - forget sun and 90 degree weather - I want it cold, real cold.

Any suggestions?
No attachments to hold me back - all I need to do is pick up and go.

cold - that's a twist. go to Alaska.

I always suggest the midwest - I'm in Illinois and couldn't be happier.

You get 4 seasons and if you want to go to a big city (it does get warm during the summer though), there are 3 within a 3 hours drive from here (Springfield)

4 drag strips with in a reasonable distance

Cheap cost of living, lots of schools (small towns) and realestate is really reasonable.

My sister moved from Jersey to this area and she regrets she waitied so long to make the move.

I say midwest also. I live in Lincoln NE and it's a nice place but rather small with only 250K people but Omaha is where everything happens. I wish I lived in Omaha b/c the night life is much better.

Don't move to Colorado - it really sucks here!
If you want it cold, North Dakota's the place to be. Minot or Grand Forks are the larger towns. You can get a nice house for $125,000.

Come to the Midwest, here in Kansas you get 4 full seasons. Cheap cost of living, and low crime rates. You can make a great living and be safe doing it.

Alot of Arkansas sucks but here in NW AR it's awesome!! I just moved here from living in the damn flatland of Jonesboro and man I couldn't be much happier. Cost of living isn't bad at all, gorgeous scenery, beautiful women, and most of the amenities you could want. The Ozarks are great! Lots of hiking, trees, water, wildlife, etc..check it out!

Pack your bags and head for Cody, Wyoming my friend !!! Everything you mentioned is what you want. Next to Yellowstone Park, Small town, plenty cold in the winter, and the people are great and down to earth !! I grew up there, my parents are still there and will never leave. PM me if you want to know more. Want to go back soon myself......this rat race is killing me too !!!

I live in Cherry Hill now. I'm 10 minutes from Philly, 25 minutes from the beach, 40 minutes from Atlantic City, 1.5 hours from NYC. I have zero complaints. I have never seen any powerplants either??? At least no where near here in view.

I had the unfortunate displeasure of having to work at the teterboro airport in new jersey a couple weeks ago,And I can tell you first hand that if the United States ever needs an enima thats where the tube go's!!!!!
