I am hoping someone may be able to give me some tips on what I may need to fix on my GN.
This only happens on re-starts after the car has been run for a while and is warm, it makes this loud ticking sound almost like a lifter is going bad, but it gradually goes away after 2-3 minutes.
I am not sure where to look or if this sounds familiar to anyone, I am about to get the car running again after an 8 mo. hiatus and this is one of the problems it was having when I shut it down last.
I have read a few posts on cam sensor failures and this is one pc I have not replaced yet (130K), everything else has just 20K on it.
Just wanting to get it all fixed without replacing something that is still good.
Any tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Header leak? Mine started this recently. Does not do it cold, only on a warm start, say about after it has cooled for 30 minutes or so. I "think" mine is leaking on the drivers side rear cylinder. I can see the soot mark on the pipe at the flange.

Well I just had the manifolds welded when I changed the head gaskets so I dont think it's that. I hate to use the word "knock" but it sounds right in between a knock and a ticking..increasing with revs also..forgot to post that on the initial write in. this is why I thought maybe a lifter, my thought was a lifter would do the opposite..tick when cold not warm ??
Thanks for the input...I will keep checking in here.

Will a cam sensor make such a noise if it is going bad ? I have read some posts on the bearing tolerances going bad and causing play. Also the noise doesnt set the knock sensor off, if this helps any.
Thanks again for any input.

In my experiences with cam sensor noise it's always been on cold startup and the noise went away as soon as it warmed up...use a mechanics stethoscope or piece of hose and put it on the cam sensor cap...will be pretty obvious if the noise is coming from there...
