The lower half of my speedometer cable that goes into the transmission broke on my 86' T-Type! Where can I find a replacement? If not still available from the dealer what other cars used the two-piece cable that would work? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, R.B.

g-BODIES in the boneyard will donate them, however, you can purchase a new cable at Advance or AutoZone.

Red Regal T, do you have the part number for Advance or Auto Zone? I have had no luck from them. I do have one from the junk yard but would like to get a new one. Thanks,
Kevin

No, but I did buy one at Advance complete with case when Discount a few years ago. Was not expensive.

Years ago I drove to every parts store in my area with no luck. I took my OEM cable and went behind the counter and matched the ends up to two different cables, then cut and spliced the two to make one I could use. $12 for one cable, $8 for the other.
While on the subject, you can add/subtract 15% of your speed-o-meter by buying a reducer from GM for a 1987 MontyCarlo SS. It goes between the cables by the firewall. To make speedo read 15% lower, take apart the gizmo and flip the gears around inside. (like for 3.73 or 4.10 gears)

If you stay with stock rear gears and add 28" tall tires, you install reducer as is, and speedo will read very close to perfect.

Speedo Cable

I just threw my entire 86 T-Type speedometer cable in the garbage because I'm using a Casper's VSS converter thing. I think it's still in the garbage bag in my garage. If you can't find one somewhere else let me know and I can dig it out.

Thanks for the offer Jeff. I went to the local parts store and picked up a speedometer cable made by Pioneer Inc. Automotive Products. Part # CA-3013. I believe it's for an early 80's pick-up, 61 inches long. Worked perfect! Thanks for all the help guys. RB. Oh, it was $15.99.
