Lowering shift points

Hi i want to lower the shift points in my tranny since it is going in a 79 malibu with a 350 and needs to shift earlier. I have a lightened governer in there. Would replacing it with a stock gov. fix this? Thanks.

The governor is in the tranny i cant get a pic of it unless i drop the pan and remove it. I ordered it from hoffer and told him all about my car and that i want it to shift around 5800 and he said he'd give me a lightened one. If i get a stock one, will that lower the shift points?
