Want to get an LS1 Fbody to play with.

Going to look at a camaro this weekend,
it's a 98 z28 with 87k miles, auto trans.

Am I going to be looking at a tranny rebuild in the near future with this mileage?
Doesn't have an engine mods, just some exhaust work so can't be putting down too much power, but I don't know how strong the trannys are in these cars?

Is there anything I should look out for while looking at it?

Thanx for any advice

I had a '98 LS1 TA A4 a couple years ago and after I bought it all the LS1 guys were telling me that '98 was the worst year to have, not sure why. Ran ok I guess but it never really did anything for me. Only kept it about 6 months. A lot of aftermarket for them though.

A friend of mine here in Phx has an LS1 Z28 auto. He has gears, big stall, and runs a consistent 12.3, it's stock otherwise

MY ls1 ta lost second gear at 40k.had it rebuilt with shift kit and stall and its been holding up real well.

99 up have a more desireable PCM system. Easier to tune, some say.
Later trans have better parts. IE 05.
