LS1 MAF upgrade

Hey guys, a buddy of mine just switched out his MAF from his 01-02 TA and I was wondering what I would have to do to upgrade to this and if it is a wise decision? I know the chip is the main change but what else do i need to look into? Thanks.

You would just need a MAF Translator to run a LS1 MAF, you can run the same chip you are now running.

6 or the 8 cylinder?

If it's the LS1 V8 I think you don't need to do anything else. If he switched it out did he go with something bigger? I know that most of the LS1 guys go with the ported MAF ends.

Yeah he has the WS6 and upgraded to the ported throttlebody and got a new MAF to match, part of a package deal. The translator sold on fullthrottle performance should be all I need then? Thanks.
