The LT1 will be an easier swap than most are making it out to be.
Go to a junk yard and find an underhood wire harness (that comes from the fuse block) from an earlier carbureted G-Body and swap that into your car. That harness will have the all the leads you need to make the engine run (starter, distributor, etc.)
You won't need any wires from the pass. side harness so you can either neatly tie the EFI harness back or remove it for now.
You will need to wire up a kit for your electric fan (which you can but a cheap kit at most parts stores). You will also need to make a quick kit for your powermaster brakes but that's easy. If you need help with that just email me.
Install some Monte SS mounts (the holes are already in the frame for them).
Drop the engine in and you'll be ready to rock. It'll probably take a weekend to do it all. And if you wanted to get real fancy, you could tap into the trans lock up solenoid with a switch and use a toggle to lock it up (for highways & such).
Yeah, mentioning that kind of swap on these boards goes over like a fart in a space suit. My T Type is rocking and rolling right now but I ever hurt this engine again, I am swapping a turbo (aluminum block) LS1 motor in it. I know I'm going to catch a lot of flack but who cares. I will never pay that kind of money to build a stage motor when I can get two more cylinders for the same price if not cheaper.
I have done several similar swaps so If you have any questions please feel free to email me @
