Dont worry im keeping the LC2 in the GN. I have an upcomming project of swapping Lt1s in my uncles 4th gen camaro. Just wondering if anyone has done this and how hard is it? Any tips or tricks? Also I have another 109 in my garage that im in the process of building and swapping too so what as far as tools should I start investing in? Lifts, stands, etc...

Thanks

about a 24" 3/8" drive extension & an 3/8" "impact" swivel for the bell housing bolts, it makes life SO much easier.

as

long as his car wasn't a v6 it'll be easy.............lots and lots of masking tape and a sharpie....and plastic bags...label all parts (even if you have a good memory) and buy a set of extensions. Engine hoist and stand are a good idea..the local hardware store down the street had a hoist and a stand for well under $200 so you can find deals if you look. I usually put the front of the car as high as the jack stand will let me, always have help and work safe. Good luck (it's easy once you've done a few...I don't really have to think too much about it anymore.....about 20 swaps into it). I always have a spare jack around to support the trans (when not pulling with the engine) if the engine is out of the car a while a few coat hangers can work to help hold the trans in place.

Thanks, nope Its a z28, spun a rod bearing and doing the labor for free. I found a pretty good deal on a good used one so instead of ripping it apart id figure a swap would be easier. Thanks for the help. im felling a lot better about this project.

thats

that's what it's all about......and make your uncle buy a manual on the car (chiltons or whatever he can get his hands on)...they aren't very specific but they can help if you get in a bind. (make him put a new opti-spark on the engine before install....trust me :) piece of cake...make him buy the beer :) even free labor doesn't have to be free
