Credit goes to Eric Fisher (turbofish38) for this tidbit. Apparently you can convert your column shift steering column to floor shift specs by swapping in the smooth collar from a 3rd or 4th gen camaro/firebird or a 1st or 2nd gen. J body (cavalier/skyhawk/sunbird) with automatic on the floor. You will have to disassemble the column and swap only the collar.
Obviously, you could use the collar/column from another g body as well.
