Well, I finally dumped the bottle of Lucas Trans Fix I have had for a while into my trans on Sunday. A later test drive showed near immediate results. The sloppy 1-2 shifts are gone and the trans generally operates smoother and easier. I'm still low on fluid (haven't picked any up yet), but I've always been told its better to be low than too full. I think this bought me the little extra time for my car to last untill february. My car is all original, 140K on the motor and trans; and the valve covers have only been off ONCE. Just thought I'd share.

Any thoughts?

Might give you some time to save for a rebuild. I am far from an expert on a lot of things, but would guess that this will only be a temporary fix while it masks the real problem that is going on inside your transmission.

I know nothing short of a complete rebuild will fix the trans. But, I had heard good things about the Lucas stuff. I figured for $8 a bottle, there wasn't anthing to lose. I think it helped, but your absolutely right; it will just mask the real problem. If the trans goes; I'll send the whole car down the road. Thanks for the help.
