So my maf went bad and I purchased one from G boddy and it seemed to fix the problem. My question is the maf i recieved from g boddy the plug goes in horizontal and on my original one the plug goes in paralell to the maf why is that? It seems to be working just fine though. And my second question is I run a pete tomka cold air intake the one that kirban sells and on the inlet side of the maf the hose that goes on it is about a halph inch larger than the maf inlet The new maf is a stock replacement I dont no if I didnt see this gap on my old one or if perhaps i dropped a ring of some sorts removing the original maf But i cant seem to find anything that could of come off. Has anyone run into this problem with that cold air setup?

I think you mean is, the gbodyparts maf the plug comes in from under while the one you had the plug was parallel to the maf. It's because the one you had before was the wrong maf. The parallel plug mafs are wrong!

As for your other question, can't help much without pix.

Your replacement MAF is not GM-AC Delco & plug orientation is typically off 90 deg vs. original...Replacement should, however have same 3" inlet & outlet as per original...Like you said, perhaps you lost/dropped/misplaced a 3.5" OD x 3.0" ID adapter/spacer ring??

no my replacement from g body comes in from the top and says ac on it my original came in from the bottom The car runs the same way as it did before the original maf went bad. It runs fine. As far as the other problem I must be overlooking something stupid unless that ring (if there was one ) is laying in the engine compartment. If I did loose an adapter ring is there any vendor that i can purchase a replacement from? If the vehicle runs fine do you think I should just keep that maf on it? It feels like its running up to par but I havent plugged the scanner back in yet to verify.

Can't be a problem continuing to use something that works fine...Your original statement of horizontal vs. parallel plug orientation is very confusing--to say the least...sounds the "same"...

It sounds like you have the MAF on upside down; there should be an arrow that points the direction of airflow.

NO NO thanks for the replies but the maf is on correctly I gotta buy a camera so I can post pics. But with my other question , would anyone happen to no where i could purchase a larger ring so I can get a good fit on the maf with my tube that comes off of the air filter?

Confused. How is the circuit board compartment on the maf oriented? is it facing the front of the car or the firewall?

Yes you need a camera!

See how this maf is oriented? Is yours the same??

You just had to ask. But since you did:

If I were running a maf it would be LS1 on the end of my 3.5" Big Wood Racing pipe. picure 1

And since I prefer no maf, it's the second picture. Same pipe, no maf (speed density with translator pro) picture 2

hello people; TDave I knew what you had but I forgot where I saw it. I still did'nt get any intake set up yet (I have all winter) but the 3.5 MAF is what I am going with and maybe one of our supporting venders will cum up with a deal for us Pluggers.

Yes dave my maf is on correctly and that is how my original plug looked my reman from g body has the plug running horizontal with the circuit board but im not really that concerned about that because now the car is running normal again since I installed it. Yes the circuit board is facing the front of the car and yes the screen on the maf is pointing towards the air filter. But I had to drop an adapter ring or something because I dont have a good seal on the maf there is a big gap the air filter hose seems about a halph inch to big. Is there some where I can purchase an adapter ring to make a snug fit? And tomorrow im calling G body just for the hell of it to find out why the plug is horizontal instead of the original vertical position I no that mine is original and I have to send it back for a core charge If I had a problem with this one in the future i want to no if they would take it as a core even though the plug is in a different location.
