hello peoples; I'd like to here more on the subject. What does it take and why would you do it?

You do it for more air flow to the turbo/motor. You do it by getting a "Translator-plus" or loosing the chips all together an going "F.A.S.T." computer moduel. The more you can dail in the tune for your motor combinaion the better an longer it will last. The bonus is more power!

Enjoy!

A correction is in order. You do it with the Translator Pro, NOT the Translator plus.

There are several ways to go Speed Density (mafless):

Translator Pro

Turbo Tweak speed density chip

various other stand alone ECM's such as FAST, FAST XFI, Big Stuff3, Motec, Holley, etc. etc.

All of the above give you FAR more tuning options, and you are in control of FAR MORE items, and as such they are far more complex, and usually not for the "average joe" tuner. They take quite some getting used to.

There is one more hybrid option, the TT 6 chip where it is MAF for cruising and wideband locking to target A/F for WOT. I have not done one thing to the programming on mine, its all out of the box plug n play type stuff. I am now using a 4 inch intake and LS7 MAF with the regular translator.

I have the MaxEffort ME-R on mine and since I first read about it way back in GMHTP, I always wanted to try it. Love the fueling control and how fast and easy it is to change. Makes for 25mpg highway mileage with the 83# injectors and still idle almost exactly like a stocker with the big cam that is in it.
