MAF pipe

Building an aluminum 4" MAF pipe w/ LS-2 3.5" maf placed approx 4" from the 90 degree curve to front. I am trying to keep maf in coolest location. Is there any reason to move it closer to turbo? Is there any tested theory in placing it in the longer straightest area?

Technically you want it where the straightest non-turbulent air will hit it. (That's why it has that deep screen on the front)... In real life it probably doesn't matter as you can mount it, set the tune for it's environment and be done.
