Im looking to use the extender extreme chip. But i do like the ability to go mafless in the future.
Cost wise im happy eith the gen 2, still reading up on the speed density stuff.

Thanks Joe

trying to understand the question, are you trying to decide between the Gen-2 and the Pro?

The Pro does everything the Gen-2 does and:
has a bigger/better keypad, so its easier to use.
has a backlit LCD (backlight in the Gen-2 is an option), the Pro LCD is bigger.
has closed-loop boost control
can run closed loop using the wideband for both part throttle and full throttle (gen-2 is full throttle only)
comes with the logging/tuning cable (the communication cable is an option for the Gen-2)

The Pro and Gen-2 each have a style of extender extreme chip setup specifically for them, so you would specify accordingly.

Those are the basics off the top of my head..

post back with more questions, and some details about your car.

Yes Bob, thanks for the reply. Im trying to decide between the two. The Gen 2 is what i was planing until i read more into the maf pro. I then realized i can still use my LS1 maf with the Pro until I'm ready to go speed density. Or use both, obviously i'm still learning here.

Hopefully i will see a few set ups like these coming up at Norwalk. Ease of use is one thing, but tech doesn't scare me either.

Thanks Joe

I been running the MafPro for sometime. It's the best piggy back device you can buy IMO. There is a bit of a learning curve but if you are tech suave and willing to learn it's a neat thing...

Rick

I'm with Rick. I've been running a Pro for several years. Yes there's a learning curve, more than most, but not near as bad as a stand alone ECU. If you have a bit of an understanding of tuning you'll be a little ahead.
There's not much tuning required right out of the box if you're starting out in MAF mode. Mine ran pretty much perfect right out of the box.
The thing to remember is that the Pro requires and Extender Pro chip for it to operate properly. You wont get by with another brand chip. I consider this a PLus.

I'm somewhat of a tinkerer, and can never leave well enough alone, so over the years I've got two good .bin files produced for my car, one for MAF and one for SPEED DENSITY, both of which run FANTASTIC! Especially my speed density tune!!

If you decide to go with the Pro, run it in with a MAF for a while (6 months or so) and get used to the various tuning aspects of the pro, and then switch over to speed density (takes about a minute) when you're comfortable.

While not absolutely required for it to work, a good Wideband O2 I consider a must. I actually run in closed loop with the stock O2 for idle and cruise, and the Wideband takes over for WOT conditions.

Oh, and the software you need to really make everything so much easier is TunerPro V5, can be had as a free download, but is cheap enough for the paid version. Makes all the tables and adjustments of the Pro easily viewable on your desktop. Also makes up/down loading of bin files and other setup files a breeze.

Wow, thanks Dave. Very helpful info.

Sounds like im on the right track then.
This set up just makes sense to me.
Modern tech just makes it more fun.
I also like to tinker.

Thanks Joe
