Trying to help my friend out but need to understand a couple things myself. Is a MAF bad if it spikes to 255 during a launch but hangs at 230-235 for the rest of the run. Looking at my DS files the MAF will hit 253 for a split second. Then for the remaining run, the MAF will flatline to 230-235. LV8's are also not going to 255 and pretty much stay at 230-235. It is an OEM MAF with 100K. Tried the tap test and the car does not spit or sputter. Around town driving is fine also. Looking at other DS files, including mine, MAF's read 255 along with my LV8's during an entire run. Is there something I need to look at that may cause the MAF not to hit ~255 though the run?? TIA

If the car is close to stock at 15-16psi or less, it is fine. If you are running 20+ psi or have an upgraded turbo or heads, there may be a problem

Yeah I'd say you have enough to peg the MAF:D

Really you should be using a Translator Plus/Extender to read up to 512 grams on the MAF instead of 255.

Id say your MAF is shot. If he is running 10.90's thru the stock MAF he should see a SIGNIFICANT gain by going to a 3.5" LS1 MAF. It will flow much more air

as long as its keeping the blm locked at 128 at wot its not reading the maf at that point anyway so its really no biggy.

alot of them will have some varying readings when kept pegged

just watch blm and make sure it stays at 128 the whole time its wot and if it does then you have no worries.
