i have received different info on this subject . one joe lubrant tells me anything above 5 gr is too much and will make the car run rich my blm #s range from 105-115 below 2300 rpm. idle is horrible. i also have been told that anything around 5-9 is ok . mine runs about 7 or 8 at idle . i have tried 3 maf all the same reading

so where should i be just trying to figure out if this is why i am running rich
thanks in advace for all help . JOHN

Good Morning John

I was told 7-8 was to high also John. I had the same problem before LS1+Translator.

Was any of the other 3 maf's you tried known to be working?

Actually The One Was On The Car When I Bought It. The Other Was A New Unit Not Gm But A Aftermarket Company That Advance Auto Carries. The Other Is A Screenless On From A Max Effort System But All 3 Run In The Same Numbers . No Real Changes From One To The Other.

I Was Told At Idle 5 Is The Target Number So If I Am At 7 Or 8 That Is Like A 20- 30 % Fuel Increase . And My Car Is Running Real Rich On The Bottom End

I GUESS LAST NIGHT WAS WORSE THAN I THOUGHT . SORRY ABOUT STICKING THIS IN PARTS FOR SALE GUYS.

SATURDAY NIGHT I GUESS

Your on the right track. I here that only like 1 out of 10 so called rebuilt maf's are good. If I was to buy one it would be a AC Delco. Even that would be a gamble though.
Do you not like the idea of changing over to a newer style maf?

did you check your fuel pressure (line off) and the vac lines to the regulator and insure it drops about 6psi (vac hose connected) under idle
?

when i went ot 50s i had blm issues with it being rich with stock maf and ended up going lt1 and translator , the stock maf wasnt bad either , blms were perfect running 30# injectors

yes i am leaning toward newer maf and translator thinking this is my problem.
just would hate to spend the money and find that not solve the problem.

my fuel pressure is at 43 lbs line off and drops to about 38-39 at idle vac line on
has goint to the ls1 maf fixed your problem ??
