I was able to install my new pan last night and everything went beutiful until I was cleaning up and realized I had not put the magnet in the pan before I assembled the pan to the tranny. I just went ahead and cleaned everything up and called it a night. How important is that magnet? I don't really want to take the pan back off but if I have to I will. I dont want to do any damage to the tranny. I put a new filter in it when I changed pans. It is a stock pan I replaced the old one with. What do you guys think???
George :o :(

IMO it depends on how anal you are & how much was on it when you did the service.

Not a whole lot was on the magnet when I removed the pan. The transmission only has about 2000 miles on it.

Glad I could help Chris!

Sometimes things get too serious in this forum.:D

[Keep up the good work.]

Is there any truth to this, I was told a 200 4R tranny or a 700 4R without a magnet will then allow the ferrous material that normally collects to it, to then collect on the electro magnet of the torque convertor solinoid and eventually cause a problem?

Nick, is that with or without duct tape to make sure it doesnt fly off at speed? What color should i use? Should I criss cross the tape pattern if used? lol, that broke the ice for sure.

Mark:D

that is true .when the solenoid is turned on it generates a magnetic field attracting particles that can stick the solenoid
