Not sure what he would charge but, he does em everyday!!!! Also depends on what you want done. Are you sure you need an engine? Call him and ask, he's a nice guy. You'll be happy you called him!

Yes. Spend your money once and be done with it.

Jack'll hook you up. See if you can get him to install a stage II by mistake ;)

First isolate the noise that is to start you can do this yourself. Like other people said most of the repairs you can do yourself, on a 89k mile engine providing you take care of which i am sure you do, it is not like you are doing surgery on a 95 year old man. Engine should be pretty clean inside. Lifter easy, broken rocker easy, exhaust leaks easy, bearing easy. Most shops to drop pan and put beaings in will stay away from and want to sell you an engine. Is oil pressure consistent across the board?

I would stay as far away from regular repair shops as you can. For normal daily drivers these shops may be OK. For these types of cars, I would recommend somebody that is familiar with their quirks. Most people do not work on these and as such have a tendancy to screw them up. I would really recommend taking it to someone with knowledge of these cars. It will cost you more but it will be done correct the first time. I can tell you that I just did my short block myself. I used stock internals which worst case scenario you should be able to also. I have billet mains in the center two mains. I was just short of 1800 including all the machine work and the parts. 5300 for a Jasper engine seems high but then again I am in Ohio. I still would stay away from the Jasper engines.

Thanks for all the advice, I went to J&M corvette again and had eric listen to the engine, he didn't give me a straight answere. He said it's possibly a torque converter bolt, and that could be setting off the knock sensor. this sucks.

Town and Country GM in middletown told me that the scanmasters knock sensor doesn't rely on a frequency pickup device to measure the retard. is this true? so what theyre saying is nothing else could set off the knock besides timing retard.

WHAT??? The scanmaster displays what the vehicles computer is reading from it's sensors! The scanmaster has no sensors of it's own! What is your oil pressure??? You need to find that out FIRST! Then check the valve train. If oil pressure is good it is probably something minor.

Machinegun is on the line . I had a ticking on my white Buick and at first I thought my motor was knocking, but I listened a little bit closer and find out it was coming around the driver side . Ending up being a crack driver side header. He is right also about letting no one touch your car that doesnt know these Buicks and their special problems. See someone who is in Turbo Buick Performance repair business.
