manual steering question

i had the chance to drive a tr with a s-10 box installed and felt like i was going to wreck the car. are they all sloppy and unresponsive?

i wanted to convert to manual but i dont think its safe anymore.

Depends on the rest of the set up? My car was sloppy also untill I added an anti sway bar that ties in the body with the suspension. Most of the cars converted over to manual have no front sway bar and probably racing shocks etc. The addition of the anti sway bar restores the handling to those cars.
