Here is the deal, I have these marks on my rear window identical to hard water spots/lines.These were on the car when i bought it, but i cant get them to come off ,anybody got an idea of what it could be or how to remove it?I thought a guy told me once there is some kind of super fine polish for glass just for this, any of you glass or body men got any input on this? Thanks, ERIC

If it is in fact hard water stains, I've had great success soaking a rag in white vinegar and scrubbing them off.

if vinegar doesn't work. Use "000" or "0000" steel wool. You can buy this at home depot or Lowes. It sounds weird but someone else here suggested it and it polished the spots right out... No scratches (This stuff is super fine)

Hey thanks, I will give it a try I am at a loss so i will give her hell and let you know the out come.;)

i also have on my windows what looks like hard water stains.... i am getting the car painted in the spring and putting new quarter windows in so i figured i would try different stuff on it. i tried compound, wet sanding it( i knew it would scratch it but was just trying it), even put steel whool on an angle grinder and used compound which did take it out after a while but scrathed it like hell of course. tried the vinegar and even CLR cuz i had it laying around and NO LUCK. car had been in texas for some time(sun?) if that matters but i am out of ideas.... anything would help!

spots on window

Well trid the vinegar,no luck got the 000 and oooo steel wool and can just barely see a differnce. It is ridiculouse that nothing takes them off Im baffled buy this!!! But do appreciate the ideas i will keep at it and see if i can macguyver something.

well i got all my windows looking good. i took the 0000 steel wool and put it on one of those hand sanders that vibrate and used compound(very little)with it..... takes a little bit but it did all come off. no matter how hard i pressed, it didnt scratch the glass at all. hope this works for you!

just like car compound for taking out scratches that you would buy at autozone by the polish and wax. the steel wool i have is a wound up roll and i un-wound it and put one layer on the sander. any other questions just ask!
