I'm big into space astronomy and have been following the Mars rover exploration very closely...I just think it's amazing that we are finally starting to gain interest in finding stuff on another planet...pretty soon you are going to see NASA start planning for a manned mission...it's not as far away as you may think...they are saying by around 2010 or so they might be sending the first humans there...

If the rovers do find evidence of water on that planet it's going to be incredible news for human history...everyone has always believed that we are so special and that no other parts of the universe contain life or could have supported it...

the other rover is supposed to land on the other side of Mars on the 24th this month...anyone think they will find something? maybe ancient fossils of aliens or something?

what would happen to this planet if the scientists of nasa were watching the panoramic view of one of the rovers and then all of a sudden you see some alien being in the picture and then it decides to crush the rover or something...wouldn't that freak people out!

further proof that Don is a dork, hey man where you been on AIM?

yea that is very interesting i caught some of fox news the other night talking about it..... this could be HUGE

You should change your screen name to Astronerd:D j/k

Very interesting stuff for sure, but if they find so much as a martian turd, I'll be surprised.

You can keep track of whats going on at www.nasa.gov
They are supposed to have new pics everyday.
Did you see the building of the 2 rovers and the test landings on the NOVA program. Check PBS.org and it will tell you when Nova comes on around you. Good program, I watch Nova all the time.

Yah, bits and pieces of the European rover that didn't make it.

I take passive interest in science news and stuff.
It seems I once read that manned space exploration costs ten times more than robotic space exploration but only collects twice as much data.
I firmly believe in pushing the limits of space exploration, but do it robotically.

Truly fascinating stuff!

I wanted to be an astronaut when I was younger. Bad math skills so I became a firefighter!:D

Huh? That's like telling the Wright brothers to use dummys instead of real people. I think you're missing something here but I suppose not everyone has a spirit of adventure.

i think they should do testing with rovers/landers/flybys of mars until the end of this decade then in 2010 or so they should start planning for a manned mission...it's going to come sometime in our lifetime i know that for sure...we are going to eventually try to colonize mars and maybe even get the atmosphere to become like earth's artificially...it can be done!

While I think it is cool that we are exploring Mars, when I see how much $$$$ we are putting into the program, I think it would be better spent here on Earth.

Couldn't agree more. I love the idea of space travel, and the things that they find, but I am a firm believer that the money could be spent on much more useful things here in America.
