Billu,
Palumbo has the knock off version of it. He said he pulled a car with some flat tires on to his trailer. Thats pretty tough . They are all the same housing
so i think they are the same just rebadged.

My brother bought the knock off or what ever of that master lock winch and it works ok. There must be some type of over load protector in it as it will just shut off after a little use, but if you let it "rest' for a bit it will work again.

I like the look of the $99 chinese knock off. It is rated for more but you can print anything on a package so it might be junk.

Not the cheapest in the world, but this is the one I had on my last trailer, and it was perfect for pulling the car up on or off of the trailer. Dont let the pull capacity fool you, this is a serious piece. I had to pull my Father-in-law's Olds Cutlass out of his garage (I died). Before we had noticed that we forgot to release the parking brake we had drug the car over 10'.
I just wish I had the "pesos" to put this one in my new trailer!

The rating is also determined by the incline on which you are pulling on. I've got a 10YO Superwinch rated at 2500 and I've also done some hellacious pulling. Yep I've left the park brake on or left the tranny in park a few times. As long as it rolls or slides. Every winch I've ever seen had a circuit breaker on it. When it pops it has to cool down before it resets itself.
