McGwire Admits to using Steroids ---

Hmmm, even during the 98' season where he broke that record.

Do you think he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame?

I am just curious on everyones viewpoints on this.

I guess it wasnt "breaking a rule" back then, but it wasnt really anything to be proud of also ---

In my opinion he flat out cheated. He should not hold the HR record. I have no idea how they should handle the season. Meaning how many games did the Cards win because of his homeruns?

Then you have to start docking the others Bonds,Palmero,Sosa,A-Roid.ect.....
and don't forget Clemmons who knows how many....Hell let them all have the option of using.

Pretty funny how Bud Selig makes such a big deal about Pete Rose gambling, but when the topic of guys like Mcgwire, Bonds, etc. come up and steroid use he doesn't want to take any blame or talk about it. Personally, I feel the guys that were taking steroids should not be in the Hall of Fame for the simple fact they would not have been able to accomplish these amazing feats without the use of performance enhancing drugs be it steroids or HGH. Mcgwire claims that he only used it to heal faster from injuries, however, if he did not he would not be able to play games like the guys that didn't take them during injury and therefore would not have had these amazing seasons so regardless it's cheating anyone you look at it!

Can't say I'm surprised at all. Canseco told us all years ago but nobody wanted to believe him. With this being known I don't know if any of his stats should count. What I can say though is that this makes the Pete Rose situation even more painfully obvious.

Basically its ok to cheat on the field and destroy the integrity and history of the game but its wrong to bet on your team winning?

That's why they won't keep them out of the Hall of Fame because it would do too much damage to the game and it's nice American past time image. In my opinion though the damage is done and people are not stupid so they should at least put a nice fat "*" next to their names!

Yep everybody likes to hate on Canseco, but at least he was honest about it and didn't try to hide it or deny it like the rest of these guys. I wouldn't be surprised if Canseco isn't in the Hall of Fame because he was the whistle blower on the "Steroid Era". Canseco openly stated that he does not think he could have accomplished the 40 stolen bases and 40 HR in one year without the use of steroids, yet Mcgwire would have you believe it makes no difference.

I agree Brett, but why would he and these other guys try and insult other people's intelligence by lying about it when the sh!t it the fan and this went in front of Congress. These guys are just plain MORONS because it only makes them look bad later when they finally came clean. Now they are not only cheaters they are also labeled as lying cheaters! They knew the truth was going to come out eventually cause the bottom line is your urine doesn't lie.

I don't really agree with the use of steroids but it does STILL take tremendous ability, talent and very hard work to do the things that some of these athletes do. I think some people get the impression that if you just shoot up then it makes you a superstar.
