I recently purchased an engine from Mike, and he gave me a decent deal on it. Even offered to include the wiring harness for an extra $100. That's cool.

I get to his house, it's not out, I pay him for it (my mistake), I get the engine and he takes my address; says he's going to send it to me when he gets it out, as he has no reason to keep it. By the time I get home I find out he's trying to get rid of the car. Harness still not removed. Well, he ends up selling the car with the harness in it. So obviously I want my $100 back. I call him about it and he tells me a story about how the guy really "beat him up on the price". I say okay, I still want my money back for it and he agrees to send it to me.

Money order doesn't come in a few days so I call back. This time he claims he's sick and can't leave the house; that's okay, it happens from time to time. Says he'll send it to me when he gets out of the house.

Called him today and now he's been laid off, money is tight, etc., etc. Basically put I can see where this is going. I'm not going to get my money back as he either feels he gave me too good of a deal on it and can no longer afford to follow through, or he's just a cheat. Either way Mike you owe me $100 and need to be a man and follow through on a deal you make.

I sincerely doubt he'll post again, as he hasn't posted here since his car sold on the 30th of April. So just be aware if you deal with anyone from Rockwood, MI named Mike Powers.

If any or all of this is actually true Mike, then I can repost and correct myself when my money shows up at my door.

been there, done that

this is evidently a common routine ....... i bought an engine a couple years ago from a guy in N. Carolina (quickwrench). i drive all the way there to pick up the engine (from Michigan) and the guy tells me the downpipe, coil pak & ignition module are in the trunk of the car and he forgot to bring the keys. he says he lives about an hour away from where the car & engine are, so he'll ship the parts to me in a week. surprise ......... the parts never arrive. the only thing i got was one excuse after another. i posted feedback about the transaction and the guy, quite a bit later, had the audacity to reply to my post with some ficticious nonsense. so when i saw his reply to my post, i called him and to my amazement, he answered. we discussed his bogus fabrication and he agreed to send me my parts if i sent him $100 (this was because he had, at the time of the purchase, agreed to accepting $100 less than his asking price for the engine). he too, apparently thought he had sold the engine for less than its worth (though i paid plenty for it). just be glad you were only burned for $100 ...... it cost me in the neighborhood of $500-600 to replace the parts i never rec'd.
