would eather megga copper or the high tempature red trv gasket sealers (eather one) work for the gasket between the header and turbo? i keep blowing the metal (copper) gasket out and gm dosent make them any more so im stuck between a rock and a hard spot.

i was told to use ultra copper a while back to make that gasket but i could not find any, one of the other two work?

1st make sure that the flange is nice and flat. I nice fresh flat file in even strokes should get it there . Then a thin skim of Ultra copper and you are done.

I have removed more than a few copper gaskets as they just havent worked in my opinion. I have also installed a new turbo on a pitted crappy flange and sealed just fine too !I guess that part is just luck.

i guss im going to have to run by sheapards some time tommaro and get some ultra copper then if the mega wont work.
i
re-polished the dp that i baught from you, its back to its origional color i just took my old car buffer and used some polish compound and finished it in about 2 mins flat. i hope there wasent a finish on there :D

geting the old one out was a pain in the ass because i was sawing on it for a hour with a broken dull hack saw blade wraped with some hose good thing i adventually found the cutting disks for my drimel.

ok ive got alittle problem, i found some ultra copper and i put it inplace of the gasket but now the turbo brace's bolt holes wont line up with the blocks holes and the turbo oil feed tube is to high and the return tube is to low, every thing is off the thickness of that gasket:( what should i do?

on top of it all my dad misplaced one of the drain back tube bolts so im up the creak with out a paddel.

does my gn actually "need" that turbo brace, as long as i bold the ground to the block is it such a big deal if i dont run it? it would save me a bit of work maken then holes bigger.

how do you all think i should make the oil feed tube fit better, its alittle to high? also my dad dinged it (not to big, just a verry minor dent) should i go ahead and replace it just to be safe?

Bolt the turbo to the header.and tighten accordingly.

Then losely mount the trubo bracket to the head . Then loosely bolt the top of the backet to the turbo. After all bolts are lined up tighten everything up. This stuff moves around from heat , age ect... The feed line can be massaged into place. I have done this lots of times. As for the return line, as long as you can get the bolts lined in tighten to draw the flange up and tighten.

The gasket you took off could not have been that thick. All those parts have quite a bit of give to allow for all kinds of moving around.
;)

well, to put it this way the oil return line was a pita, i had to have my dad jab a wrench agenst it to hold it in to place so i could tighten the bolt, after a few mins i realized that he lost the other one so im gona have to take the other off and take it back to the hardware store and get another.

what pisses me off the most about this is that i dint even want to replace the gasket today because my mint 17k mile garage kept skylark is outside and it was going to snow, i lay down for a few mins expecting to put in 8 bolts and the waste gate arm when i wake but but my dad who knows jack about gns got about half way threw taken the turbo off and then went upstairs to watch tv because "he realized that he dint know what he was doing"
i was and still am PISSED my 67 lark has never been in rain, snow, or any thing sence the day that the first owner baught it, its still even got the origional paint. now its setting in the yard covered. maby im anal about these things but thats the most origional example of a 67 skylark ( still have the origional spark plug wires installed) that i have ever seen and it dont deserve that treatment.
